ATTENTION WALKERS!
Hello Walking Friends,
Here are the following walks planned for the month of August ,2008 (Saturday’s and Sunday’s).
Please check the message board if the weather looks threatening.
Saturday, August 2nd 2008, - Percy Warner Park, Belle Meade Boulevard, Nashville. (For the 11.2 mile loop) at 5:30am.
Directions to Percy:
From Downtown Nashville, drive south on West End Avenue for about 6-7 miles.About 1/2 mile after crossing White Bridge/Woodmont Rd., the Belle Meade Police station and a big white church will be on your left. Soon after the church, you will make a left turn onto Belle Meade Boulevard (look for the horse statues). This is one end of the Boulevard. Drive 2.5 miles down the Boulevard and you will see "The Gates". Park here.
Sunday, August 3rd, 2008- We will be walking at 7:00am at Stones River/Donelson Walkway -3 miles
Directions:
Take I-40 to Donelson Pike exit and follow to Lebanon Road. Turn right onto Lebanon Road. Kohl's Department Store is located after the Target shopping center. Park in the back corner of the Kohl's parking lot near the trailhead.
Saturday Aug 9th, 2008-We will meet at 6:30am Richland Creek Greenway at McCabe Trailhead, 4601 Murphy Road, Nashville. 6 miles
Directions:
From I-40 west toward Memphis, merge onto I-440 east toward Knoxville. Take the Murphy Road exit # 1 toward West End Avenue, Turn left onto Murphy Rd and follow to Westlawn and turn left. The trail head is on the right.
Sunday, Aug 10th, 2008, We will be walking at Radnor Lake, Otter Creek Road, 7:00am About 3 miles.
Directions:
Take I-65 to Harding Place, Exit 78 (south of Nashville). Travel west on Harding Place (or Battery Lane) to Granny White Pike. Turn left and travel south to Otter Creek Road and turn LEFT (across from Granny White Market). Follow to end of the road and park at the visitor’s center.
Saturday, August 16th, 2008 – , We will walk at Heartland, Stones River at 5:30am. 12 mile walk. *(If you are interested in a shorter walk, please call me and we will arrange a meeting point later in the morning.)
Directions:
From I-40 east, take exit #215B, at Briley Parkway north toward Opryland. Take the US-70 exit toward Lebanon Pike, exit #8. Turn left on McGavock Pike, turn right onto Fernbrook Lane. Parking and trailhead located at end of Fernbrook Lane past the soccer fields.
Saturday, Aug 16th 2008 We will walk at Heartland, Stones River at 5:30am. 12 mile walk. *(If you are interested in a shorter walk, please call me and we will arrange a meeting point later in the morning.)
Sunday, Aug 17th 2008 - We will be walking at Shelby Bottoms at 7:00am, about 3 miles
Directions:
Shelby Bottoms Greenway at Main Trailhead – 1900 Davidson Street. From I-24 west, take exit #49 at Shelby Avenue, turn right at traffic light and go over interstate and turn right at South 5th Street and continue to stop sign. Turn left onto Davidson Street and follow to the Shelby Park entrance at stone columns. Continue along river road to entrance of Shelby Bottoms Greenway under railroad bridge. .
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 --CHANGED TO: Stones River Greenway, at Thompson Lane Trailhead, Murfreesboro 6 miles 6:30am *(If you are interested in a shorter walk, please call me and we will arrange a meeting point later in the morning.)
Sunday, August 24th , 2008- TBD- See Message Board.
Saturday, August 30th 2008- - CHANGED TO: Sharp Springs Greenway, Smyrna, 6:30am 10 miles
