So what exactly is
a grand prix series? Take all of the Nashville Strider Members, a
bunch of races, and a variety of distances over the course of twelve
months and add them all up. And don't worry, you're not competing
against everyone at a given race for points, this is just among the
Striders. So if you place 5th in your age group, but are the first
Strider member in your age group, you get the first place points for
that particular race. Sound like fun? We think so. It all starts on
June 28th at the picnic.
1. Participant must be a Strider member at time of race to earn points.
2. Scoring as follows; 1st =5 points, 2nd = 4 points, 3rd = 3 points,
4th = 2 points, 5th = 1 point. Since only Strider members are awarded
points, a second place finisher would receive 5 points if he/she is the
first Strider member in his/her age group.
3. Final point standing will be determined from the best of six
finishes in the Grand Prix races. Must complete six races in order to
be eligible.
4. Also, to be eligible for awards, participants must volunteer to work
at least one of the Strider Grand Prix races and not run in the race.
Additional volunteer points (up to 4 additional points) can be earned
by working at any Strider race or Strider managed race and not running
the race.
*For
those events where there are multiple races, and one race is designated
[*] as the GP Race, the volunteer must not run at all at this
event to be awarded the qualifying GP Volunteer Point. Those races now
include the Smyrna Parks 5K* & Bill Nash Competitive Mile, Franklin
Classic 5K/10K*, Shelby Bottoms Boogie 15K*/5K, Gupton Dodge Tom King
Classic 1/2 Marathon* / 5K.
5. A maximum of 5 points can be earned volunteering at races and not participating in the race.
6. Grand Prix volunteers must register with the Volunteer Coordinator
prior to the race and sign in with the Volunteer Coordinator on race
day to insure that your name is on the Volunteer list.
7. Point totals will remain in the age group in which points were first earned.
8. Grand Prix points will be calculated from three documents: Official
Membership Records, Official Race Results, and Volunteer Lists.
9. Awards will be given 5 deep in each age group.
